Strictly Come Dancing Finalist 2022
Carlos Gu was one of four pro dancers who joined Strictly Come Dancing back in 2022
In 2023 Carlos is partnered with Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon.
Carlos Gu latest news – Unfortunately Carlos and Angela’s week 10 Cha Cha didn’t “Survive” the dance off – it was a high energy dance but needed a little more knee and hip action for the judges.
In 2022 Carlos partnered Singer and actress Molly Rainford all the way to the Strictly Grand Final
For the Grand Final, Carlos and Molly’s judges pick was their Quickstep to “Love On Top” which was last seen in week 2. The improvement was incredible earning them a fabulous 39. Prince would be impressed with their show dance to Kiss/1999 armed with attitude. And finally Carlos and Molly brought back their favourite dance their Rumba to “All The Man That I Need”. An absolutely beautifully classy performance with perfect storytelling.
Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu is a dancer at the very top of his game. He is a multiple world semi-finalist, placed 3rd at the German Open Championship and became Amateur Latin Rising Star Runner Up at the 2017 UK Open.
On joining the hit BBC show, Carlos said: ” I’m thrilled to join Strictly and very excited to get started. It’s a new chapter of my life and a new challenge as well. I’m absolutely ready to take on this journey and to shine.”
With further experience in ballroom, ballet and contemporary dance, Carlos brings a wealth of dance knowledge to the Strictly ballroom.

Angela hosts the hugely-successful design shows Your Home Made Perfect and Your Garden Made Perfect on BBC Two. Angela is the only woman in the UK and Ireland to have her own Saturday night chat show with Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.
Last year, Angela published her first book Joyrider, part empowering guide and part memoir, all about the importance of bringing gratitude into everyday life. Starting off as a stylist, she worked in fashion TV in Ireland, before beginning her UK career as the new presenter of Robot Wars and fronting documentaries for the BBC.
On joining Strictly, Angela said: “I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right!? Now I’m panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let’s go!”
Carlos and Angela opened Halloween Week with a dark, dramatic Paso Doble with a balletic twist to Black Swan from Swan Lake. Anton loved the drama. Craig agreed and commented on the creative storytelling. A great total of 33 points.
Carlos and Angela’s electrifying Argentine Tango at Blackpool Tower was Anton’s favourite dance of the night. All the judges loved the storytelling and performance, perfectly fitting for the stunning Tower Ballroom.

Carlos has been dancing with Susan Sun since March 2011. Together they have recorded 73 results in Amateur Latin and 9 results in Youth Latin. The pair can be seen on social media travelling the world together.
