From my first class Paul and his team made me feel at ease and I have gone on to learn so much. These are very professionally run classes that are also great fun

Paul and Vicki, plus all the assistant teachers, are so good at creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels safe to learn - even my ryhmically challenged husband. And the social nights are great for practising our dances and making new friends. Would highly recommend

As a 70 year old not very fit man whose previous contribution to dancing was of the Dad variety I have been amazed to enjoy something I am not very good at so much. The hour lesson slips by too quickly and usually involves laughing at my own lack of ability. The teaching team are patient and fun and really do involve even the worst of us. Really nice to get out and do something fun at 70 - beats the tele every week!

It took us a long time to work up the courage to start the lessons.. my only regret is that it took so long! The teaching is very professional and the lessons are honed to be be simple to learn, but still really enjoyable… I was literally amazed at how quickly I picked up dances like the waltz the tango and the foxtrot… I had no idea that I would enjoy the rumba so much…

I can't rate Donaheys highly enough, from the first lesson I was hooked. I was always reticent to take dancing lessons but my wife needed a partner so along I went and 3 years later, still loving it. Pauls relaxed teaching methods take you along gently, but before you know it you have lovely routines for all your favourite dances. You just have to look around the dance floor at all the laughing, smiling people to know your in a great place.

If you are looking for a fun, friendly way to exercise and meet new friends then look no further. There is an added bonus in that you will also be taught to dance by Paul and his team in a way and at a speed that is ideal for beginers and also for those who wish to progress to a higher standard.I recomend giving it a go.

My wife dragged me kicking and screaming to our first Donahey's dance lesson a couple of years ago. I was convinced that my two left feet would make me stand out as a clod-hopping failure, and that I would be mocked and ridiculed by all involved. How wrong I was. The excellent instructors proved to be extremely professional, patient and non-judgmental, and the other students proved to be very friendly and helpful. Everyone understands what it's like to be a beginner as they have all experienced their first lesson, and they can remember how nerve- wracking it can be to walk into the dance hall on that first evening. The nerves soon disappear, and I was utterly amazed at how quickly these amazing people managed to have us dancing around the floor. The basics are taught in a fun and easily understandable way, and in no time I found I was looking forward to our weekly Donahey's sessions, as I was always keen to add a few more steps to our repertoire. While it's true that we may never become the next Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, we can live with that. However, what we have gained, is a lot of pleasure doing something together as a couple (although single people are also equally welcomed and encouraged), along with a lovely group of like minded people. If you've ever thought about dancing, don't hesitate to give Donahey's a go. After all, if you find it's not for you, you can always give it up again........although, if you're like us, you will catch the dancing bug and be in it for the long-haul.

We started Dancing with Donaheys in Hyde back in April 2018. Never danced before but the class's are fun and friendly. We all make mistakes and we all laugh its a great achievement when we master the steps of the dances. really recommend the class to anyone
Me and my fiancé have been attending Donaghey's for a year and a half. We absolutely love our lessons here, we always have so much fun and highly recommend them to anybody who wants to learn to dance as a couple. The teachers are fantastic, full of knowledge and always make you feel warm and welcome. We particularly love the social nights which provide a fantastic opportunity to practise the dance routines we've learned and they are a great opportunity to socialise with the friends you make within the classes.

My wife found Donaheys when they first started in the south hams, this was after many failed attempts. to be honest Paul was the last attempt. From the very first night it just clicked. Paul has such an enthralling way to teaching that you just can't help but smile even when your feet won't work. We have so much to thank Donaheys for, going that first night was one of the best things we have ever done. If your remotely thinking about dancing then come along you will love it! Thank you Paul and thank you Donaheys

Exercise That Doesn’t Feel Like Exercise

Texas Stars Line Dance Fitness combines easy-to-follow line dancing with a fantastic variety of music to create a workout that’s as much about having fun as getting fit.

You’ll be moving throughout the class, learning new dances, revisiting favourites and giving both your body and mind a workout.

And because everyone is dancing together, there’s no partner to worry about and none of the pressure you might associate with a traditional dance class.

Just find your place in the line and follow along.

This isn’t just Country…

Line Dance Fitness

Shania? Absolutely!

Line dancing goes way beyond cowboy boots and Country music though – expect a fabulous mix of: Country & Country-Pop · Latin · Pop · Rock · Disco · Dance Floor Anthems

Some you’ll recognise, others might become your new favourites. If it’s got a great beat and we can line dance to it, we’re in!

Meet your teacher…

For Paul, this isn’t his first Line Dance rodeo.

Before moving to Devon, Paul Donahey spent over 10 years teaching Line Dancing four nights a week across Manchester, building wonderful classes and introducing hundreds of people to the fun of line dancing each week.

During his Line Dancing years, Paul was featured in Linedancer Magazine, the leading print publication for the worldwide Line Dance community, with several of his own choreographed Line Dances also published in the magazine.

Today Paul has more than 30 years’ experience teaching dance and, through Donaheys, continues to teach adults of all abilities and organise some of the UK’s most popular dance experiences.

Now he’s going back to his Line Dancing roots — with a fresh soundtrack, a fitness twist and two brand-new Absolute Beginner line dance classes in Plymouth and Kingsbridge.

Your First Texas Stars Line Dance Class

Arrive a few minutes early, wear something comfortable and bring a drink.

There’s no need for dance shoes — trainers or comfortable shoes that stay securely on your feet are absolutely fine.

We’ll start with some straightforward steps and an easy warm-up before gradually building them into dances.

Don’t worry about getting everything right first time. Nobody does.

There are no marks, no medals and no dance-offs! The idea is simply to move more, learn something new and leave smiling.

Is Texas Stars For Me?

If you’re an adult and fancy giving Line Dancing a go, probably!

You might be completely new to dancing, returning after many years, looking for a more enjoyable way to exercise or simply fancy doing something different with your Monday or Tuesday evening.

Come by yourself, come with your partner or persuade a few friends to join you…easy!

A Few Things You Might Be Wondering…

Absolutely. These classes are specifically designed for Absolute Beginners and we’ll teach everything from the very first step.

No. That’s one of the great things about Line Dancing — everyone dances together, so you don’t need a partner.

Yes, Texas Stars weekly line dance classes are for adults 18+. Apologies, no children are permitted.

Definitely not. Comfortable shoes or trainers are perfect. No high heels, flip flops, steel heels or steel toe caps please.

Not even close! Expect everything from Country and Shania to Latin, Pop, Rock, Disco and big Party favourites.

A bit of both. You’ll learn proper Line Dances, but we’ll keep you moving and make sure you get plenty of exercise along the way.

Whatever you’re comfortable moving in. There’s no dress code and certainly no requirement for checked shirts.

On your feet, we recommend flattish shoes. No high heels, flip flops, steel heels or steel toe caps please.
